Tanch's Favorite 'Players Weekend' Mariners Jerseys

Some Are Great - Some Are Just Plain Terrible

Props to Major League Baseball.  The league is taking baby steps toward injecting some fun back into the game by allowing players to wear jerseys with their respective nicknames on Player’s Weekend, August 25th through the 27th.

Considering baseball is so big on tradition, this is a big deal.  The league has been in dire need of appealing to the youth and this is a good start.  The Mariners tweeted out a shot of their nickname jerseys (and man, how dope are they?) on August 9th.  Some of the names are better than others.  Here’s how I would rate them on a scale of 1 (eh) to 10 (epic).

#22 Robinson Cano – Don’t You Know (8/10)

#15 Kyle Seager – Corey’s Brother (10/10!!!!)

#1 Jarrod Dyson – Zoombiya (9/10)

#16 Ben Gamel – Gamel (ZERO – Come on, bro… You’re not even trying)

#34 Felix Hernandez – King Felix (10/10 – duh)

#23 Nelson Cruz – Boomstick (see Felix)

#2 Jean Segura – El Mambo (2/10 – If Jean wore #5, this would be a 10/10 for obvious reasons)

#18 Hisashi Iwakuma – Kuma (3/10)

#5 Guillermo Heredia – El Conde (5/10)

#49 Yovani Gallardo – Yo (3/10)

#47 James Pazos – Papa Paz (7/10)

#25 Marc Rzepczynski – Zep (2/10 – and yes, I had to google how to spell Marc’s last name)

#3 Mike Zunino – Zunino (ZERO… You’ve been spending too much time with your boy Gamel)

#39 Edwin Diaz – Sugar (7/10)

#65 James Paxton – Big Maple (10/10)

#55 Tony Zych – T.A.Z. (7/10)

#52 Carlos Ruiz – Chooch (10/10)

#50 Nick Vincent – Hubba Hubba (9/10)
